The State Park covers 572 acres of gently rolling hills,
covered by thickets of mesquite, huisache, ebony, wild olive,
cactus and native grasses. The Park was opened to the public on
May 16, 1965.
A fishing paradise, especially for those seeking black bass,
catfish, crappie and stripers. There is also a varied and
interesting bird life consisting of common birds which range
throughout American Southwest and many of the tropical species
for which this is the northwestern most outpost. Also there are
uncommon varieties such as the Green Kingfisher and the Varied
Bunting.
In the hot dry climate of South Texas, the Park provides a
refreshing retreat for water skiing, swimming, picnicking,
biking, hiking, and boating.
Campsites and screened shelters are available complete with
water and restrooms and showers offer an ideal area for fun in
the sun. For more information and reservations contact the Park
